6 Ways to Add Asian Décor to your Bedroom
Posted on Feb 17, 2010 under Wellnews for Home Design | No CommentThe bedroom is a favorite among people who choose to incorporate Asian décor into their home. Here are six easy ways for you too to have a lovely Asian retreat.
1) Paint the walls. You can opt to paint the entire room, or only one wall as an accent wall. Typically, this should be the wall your bed rests against. You can pick any of several colors to give an oriental theme. Most popular are rich reds or natural green colors.
2) Add an area rug. An area rug completely changes the space without taking any space away, and it’s not hard to find designs that fit perfectly with an Asian themed décor.
3) Hang a wall scroll series on a bare wall. Wall scrolls are great items for Asian décor, and many times you can find them in a themed “set”. Alternatively, if you don’t have much room to spare, there are plenty of single wall scrolls that are just as beautiful.
4) Purchase Asian-decorated bedding. Any decent bedding store should have at least a few bedding selections that would fit into an oriental theme. The bedding should complement your paint selection; you should typically buy your bedding first and then choose a paint that goes with it.
5) Add a bit of Feng Shui to your nightstand. Typical Feng Shui selections include gongs, water fountains, golden or bronze statuettes or figurines, or a houseplant like bonsai.
6) Hang a paper lantern in a corner. Paper Japanese lanterns and paper Chinese lanterns are a great way to accent Asian décor. It’s up to you if you want to add a light bulb to help light up a dark corner.
